The Role

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Preoperative/PACU team. The successful candidate will administer and monitor patients undergoing sedation/analgesia, provide thorough assessments for pre and postoperative patients, and utilize ergonomics for patients postoperatively.

The ideal candidate will have 1 year of experience in Preop/PACU, an Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent, and an Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License from a Compact State.

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required upon hire, with the option to obtain ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and monitor patients undergoing sedation/analgesia
  • Provide thorough assessments for pre and postoperative patients
  • Utilize ergonomics for patients postoperatively
  • Care for patients with complex needs, including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients
  • Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters & arterial lines
  • Safe use of less invasive, life supporting modalities i.e. BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure based CO/CI & SVO2 monitor, core temperature monitors
  • Care for patients with IV lines, arterial lines, central lines, ports, chest tubes, pleural catheters, tracheostomy tubes and endotracheal tubes
  • Maintenance and care of patients with an ostomy/ileostomy and urostomy
  • Administer medications via all routes, using the 6 rights, medication bar scanner and monitoring patient for side effects
  • Care for, assess and monitor patients with Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and epidural catheters
Qualifications
  • 1 year experience in Preop/PACU
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License from a Compact State
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification
