Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Assigned Supervisor, the Youth Care Specialist will be responsible for providing professional, safe care to clients in a well-maintained and secure environment. This includes ensuring that YMCA, DCF, and DEEC policies are applied, and providing a positive role model for clients to enhance their self-worth and encourage them to reach their full potential.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong understanding of adolescent development and behavior, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A minimum of one year of related experience working with adolescents is preferred, and a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and vehicle are required. Additionally, you will need to complete yearly DEEC and OCY training programs.

Physical Requirements

The Youth Care Specialist will be required to assist with the restraining of residents up to approximately 200 pounds and maintain program security through visual and auditory acuity. You will also be responsible for performing job duties under facilities/housekeeping standards.
