An Automotive Parts Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and managing retail sales within our Parts Department. Key responsibilities include assisting customers in selecting the necessary parts, managing inventory, and ensuring a seamless shopping experience. Ideal candidates will be friendly, articulate, and self-motivated, with a strong emphasis on communication skills and a positive demeanor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist all customers (both retail and shop) in identifying required parts in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Inform customers about related part requirements and promotional offers, ensuring they are aware of the complete product range.
  • Handle phone inquiries, providing accurate price quotes and information.
  • Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
  • Retrieve and fulfill orders from inventory.
  • Alert the parts manager regarding out-of-stock items or urgent shop materials.
  • Source out-of-stock parts from external suppliers and process emergency orders as needed.
  • Notify service advisors and customers upon receipt of special ordered parts.
  • Follow up on back-ordered items.
  • Conduct weekly verification of will-call and back-order files, returning unclaimed items to vendors or restocking them.
  • Ensure all internal parts requests are billed appropriately on service repair orders.
  • Process payments from retail customers or secure credit authorizations.
  • Issue credits for returned parts, verifying original invoices or numbers for accuracy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in front and rear counter areas.
  • Participate in available training programs.
  • Stay updated on new products and updates.
  • Collaborate with the parts manager to maintain a lost sales tracking system.
  • Uphold a professional appearance at all times.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 months of relevant experience or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in both front and back counter operations is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
  • Strong mathematical and reading comprehension abilities.
  • Basic understanding of distribution center functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and work at heights of 25 feet or more.
  • Willingness to be certified to operate a forklift within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Warehouse and material handling experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in computer usage and able to learn new software quickly.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
