As a Serious Game Designer, you will champion creativity and innovation. Responsibilities of the Serious Game Designer:
- Develop, create, and maintain comprehensive game design documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with design, artistic, and technical standards.
- Collaborate closely with our diverse team to design and develop unique training experiences.
- Create user-friendly UI/UX for Mobile, PC, VR, and AR projects.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in game design to enhance our offerings continually.
- Document detailed software mechanics, progression, and interface flow.
- Work with clients to clarify their vision while ensuring projects align with company objectives and budget constraints.
- Communicate product vision to the development team through active participation in meetings, reviews, and planning sessions.
- Anticipate the implications of decisions made during the preproduction phase, ensuring the design vision is maintained throughout development.
- Adapt designs and implement changes based on feedback from the development team, SMEs, and end users.
- Assist in creating product proposals and presentations.
- Inspire, motivate, and mentor team members in best practices, processes, and procedures while fostering a collaborative production environment.
Requirements for the Serious Game Designer:
- US Citizenship is required.
- Eligibility for a US security clearance is necessary due to interactions with the intelligence community and DoD programs; selected candidates will undergo a security investigation.
- Bachelor's degree plus relevant experience in game development or a design-related field, with at least three shipped titles or products credited to the designer, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in creating detailed and clear software documentation, pre-visualization, and technical writing.
- Experience in iterating on game prototypes throughout the development lifecycle to refine gameplay mechanics and ensure alignment with customer requirements and learning objectives.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design ideas and concepts effectively.
- A passion for exploring how games and interactive technology can positively influence training and education.
- Experience with Unreal Engine is essential.
Preferred Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in creating intuitive user interfaces (UI) and engaging user experiences (UX) within Unreal.
- Familiarity with Unreal blueprints, scripting, and Slate UI.
- Understanding of interactive teaching and learning methodologies, including instructional design principles.
- Experience with multiplayer and mobile game systems.
- Skills in team mentoring and leadership.
- Experience in writing product proposals.
- Ability to multitask and quickly grasp new ideas, software, and technologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience working in Agile teams, along with familiarity with JIRA and Confluence.
- Knowledge of design tools such as Photoshop, Visio, Adobe XD/Figma.
