Your Impact on Patient Recovery:
The Physical Therapist Assistant is essential in executing tailored physical therapy treatments as outlined by a licensed Physical Therapist. Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging with patients and their families to educate them on the proper use of therapeutic equipment, home exercise regimens, and essential techniques for effective post-discharge care.
- Collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure follow-up care aligns with the established goals of the treatment plan.
- Implementing treatment protocols for assigned patients, which may involve modality treatments, therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, gait training, and wound care, in accordance with the Physical Therapist's directives.
- Documenting patient responses to treatments and tracking progress in their medical records, ensuring all notes are accurately completed and filed.
- Providing guidance and instruction to Physical Therapy Assistant students, technicians, and support staff in executing patient care tasks.
- Offering counseling and education to patients and families regarding the use of assistive devices and home exercise techniques, as per the treatment plan.
Qualifications and Licensure Requirements:
- A minimum of two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant is preferred.
- An Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program is required.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of employment.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Auto liability insurance in accordance with company policy.
