We are currently seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to become a vital part of our team.

Position Overview
This role involves providing care to patients at the St. Cloud Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic (SCENT) under the guidance and supervision of our Physicians and Clinical Team.

Work Schedule
This position typically operates between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Please note that start and end times may vary due to unforeseen delays or when assisting at outreach locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage clinic and Physician priorities while ensuring efficient patient flow in a dynamic clinic environment.
  • Prepare examination and procedure rooms for upcoming patients, ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
  • Obtain patient consent and prepare individuals for examinations and procedures.
  • Record vital signs and comprehensive patient health histories, ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic health record system.
  • Provide educational resources to patients and their families, addressing general inquiries as needed.
  • Assist with various in-office procedures, including lesion excisions, facial plastic closures, and sinuplasty.
  • Evaluate and discuss patient symptoms with the Physician to guarantee appropriate care levels.
  • Support Physicians with tasks that fall within the LPN/CMA scope of practice.
  • Adhere to all clinic compliance and safety protocols, including sterilization techniques and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications and Skills
Education: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program or certification as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Licensure: Must possess current and unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Minnesota or certification as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Experience: Previous experience in a medical facility is preferred.
Credentialing and Continuing Education: Attendance at all OSHA and mandatory in-services is required. Current CPR certification and compliance with Minnesota's continuing education requirements are necessary.
Skills: Strong communication abilities, teamwork, and professionalism are essential. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Somali or Spanish is advantageous.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This role necessitates standing and walking for the majority of the workday, along with repetitive tasks involving computer use and constant visual engagement with computer screens. Direct patient interaction is a key component of this position, requiring the ability to assist patients with mobility challenges, including lifting, bending, and reaching. Employees may encounter blood and other bodily fluids and must be knowledgeable about universal precautions and sterile techniques.

Travel Requirements
This position may involve travel to outreach locations (within a one-hour radius). On average, travel occurs approximately twice monthly, subject to variations based on outreach assignments.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check and Tuberculosis screening.
