Travel Medical Imaging Specialist

Magnet Medical seeks a skilled Travel CT Technologist to join our team in Westerville, Ohio.

As a Travel CT Technologist with Magnet Medical, you will operate computed tomography (CT) scanners to perform diagnostic imaging procedures for patients. Your responsibilities will include patient preparation, equipment operation, image quality review, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses.
Duties and Responsibilities- Patient Preparation:
- Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and ensure their comfort during scans.
- Verify patient information, medical history, allergies, and prior imaging to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate imaging protocols.
- Position patients properly on the CT table for high-quality images.
- Instruct patients on breath-holding or remaining still during scans, as required by the procedure.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate and calibrate CT scanners, ensuring proper settings for each scan.
- Administer contrast agents or dye injections under physician or radiologist guidance.
- Monitor equipment during imaging to ensure high-quality images and minimal errors.
- Image Quality and Review:
- Review CT images for quality, ensuring all required areas are captured and meet diagnostic standards.
- Collaborate with radiologists to ensure images support accurate diagnosis.
- Repeat or adjust scans as necessary to improve image quality or comprehensive coverage.
- Patient Safety and Comfort:
- Minimize radiation exposure to patients using lowest possible dose and shielding.
- Maintain a sterile, safe environment in the CT room, sanitizing equipment between patients.
- Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent injury or discomfort.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to contrast agents and alert healthcare providers if necessary.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to determine imaging procedures and assist in diagnosing conditions.
- Document patient information, scan parameters, contrast media used, and any complications in the electronic health record.
- Participate in patient care planning, discussing complex cases with the healthcare team.
- Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot CT scanners and associated equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and calibration of CT equipment, alerting maintenance staff to malfunctions.
- Keep accurate logs of equipment use, maintenance, and repairs.
- Radiation Safety and Compliance:
- Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff, using shielding and adhering to dosage guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, safety standards, and Joint Commission guidelines.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, including radiation safety, patient privacy, and procedural guidelines.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Accurately document imaging procedures, patient information, and adverse events or changes in patient status.
- Ensure documentation complies with hospital policies, medical record-keeping regulations, and industry standards.
- Assist with maintaining patient flow by providing quick turnaround times for imaging results when needed.
- Patient Education and Support:
- Provide education and guidance to patients regarding aftercare following contrast injections, potential side effects, and follow-up procedures.
- Address patient concerns about the procedure, offering support as necessary.
- Ensure patient privacy and dignity are maintained throughout the imaging process.
- Professional Development and Training:
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in CT imaging technology, protocols, and safety procedures.
- Attend in-house training sessions and seminars on new imaging techniques or equipment.
- Maintain professional certification and licensure, including continuing education requirements.
