Job Title: Utility Construction Specialist

Black Hills Energy is seeking a skilled Utility Construction Specialist to join our team. As a Utility Construction Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, estimating, and managing construction activities for basic residential customer construction services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review job types and assign appropriately using the Service Request tool.
  • Prepare estimates and design basic electric construction jobs, including new services, maintenance, and third-party damages.
  • Ensure timely and efficient construction planning and enter orders in the system to schedule work.
  • Explain company construction policies and procedures to customers and work with customers to best satisfy their needs.
  • Provide backup for Utility Construction Planners on work order preparation, customer contact, and technical assistance.
  • Work with other departments to schedule construction of customer jobs and coordinate with customers, internal field crews, and contractors.
  • Assure that gas construction follows company and industry codes and standards.
  • Ensure accurate mapping of facilities.
  • Write work orders for 3rd Party Damages.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years of utility environment, construction environment, or relevant experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-task environment as a collaborative team member.
  • Independent, well-organized, self-starter, and able to adapt to change.
  • Ability to develop and implement work processes that contribute to increased efficiencies.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately resolve customer complaints in a diplomatic and professional manner.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to professionally collaborate with customers and individuals across the organization in written and verbal communications.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
