The primary responsibility of this role is to support Cardiologists in executing invasive and diagnostic cardiac/vascular and electrophysiologic procedures. This includes technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation utilizing automated techniques. The position involves delivering care to fulfill patient needs and performing additional assigned duties.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Associate's Degree OR successful completion of a certificate program in Radiology.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Radiography (R)(ARRT) within 1 year of hire
IEMA Radiography License Illinois OR Temp IEMA upon hire
BLS within 30 days of hire
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in using standard equipment necessary for essential functions of the position.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsing. Multicultural sensitivity is essential.
Essential Functions:
Assist cardiologists in performing invasive coronary/vascular/EP diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures using specialized techniques. Responsibilities include setting up and operating various electrical/imaging equipment and computers.
Knowledge of hemodynamic principles, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and the operation of equipment and supplies used in cardiac/vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures is crucial. Competency in moderate sedation administration and adherence to policy protocols is required.
Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving abilities while organizing and prioritizing tasks based on procedural findings. Recognize and assist in the treatment of complications arising from cardiac/vascular/EP diagnostic and interventional procedures. Advocate for patient needs and ensure the sterile preparation of the environment for each procedure.
Maintain knowledge of radiation safety and the appropriate use of imaging equipment. Advanced understanding of EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition is necessary.
Effectively communicate and educate patients during procedures to alleviate anxiety and ensure focused care. Collaborate with team members and other healthcare providers in planning patient care specific to procedures being performed, ensuring accountability for patient outcomes.
Regularly update knowledge and skills as equipment changes occur within the area, and manage digital archiving systems to ensure the safe storage of patient images and reports.
Provide care to patients undergoing coronary invasive procedures in accordance with established guidelines, policies, and standards of care.
Document care provided and report significant observations to appropriate personnel.
