Job Summary:

The Utilization Review Specialist is a key member of our healthcare team, responsible for ensuring the medical necessity of patient admissions and continued stays. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough reviews of patient medical records to determine medical necessity and appropriateness of hospitalization and continued care

• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to resolve utilization issues and ensure compliance with approved treatment plans

• Develop and maintain knowledge of clinical criteria and guidelines for medical necessity reviews

• Communicate effectively with payors and other stakeholders regarding clinical updates and the need for continued hospitalization

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing

• Current RN licensure issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners in the State of Texas

• Three years of experience as a Clinical Nurse, with proficiency in clinical and technical skills in nursing specialty

• Strong leadership and teaching skills, with the ability to gain a full understanding of case management practices and procedures

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients and physicians

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual or multilingual

• Experience with utilization review and case management practices and procedures
