About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Transfusion Medicine Team at MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering world-class patient care and advancing transfusion medicine through cutting-edge research and expert clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all laboratory testing specific to the assigned section, ensuring accuracy and quality control.
  • Remain knowledgeable and competent in all policies, procedures, and protocols, adhering to regulatory mandates.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Maintain competency in computer functions in assigned areas, accurately acquiring and analyzing specimen data.
  • Follow section's inventory control system to ensure effective use of supplies and reagents.
  • Complete, verify, and report testing in a timely manner, adhering to safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Enhance productivity and laboratory functions by demonstrating dependability, adjusting, prioritizing, and organizing work to meet workload demands.
  • Assist peers and supervisors with tasks after completion of assigned work, adhering to attendance policy and beginning work as scheduled.
  • Actively participate in training students, employees, and fellows, validating and evaluating new methodologies and tests.
  • Participate in process improvement projects, coaching and mentoring students and employees, and managing customer service interactions with diplomacy.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have an Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, or a Bachelor's degree in a related science field, or successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Molecular Genetic Technology accredited program. Additionally, you must have relevant clinical laboratory experience, with a minimum of 8 years of experience required for certain qualifications.
