Key Responsibilities:

  • Under guidance, coordinates and conducts inspections of public infrastructure, including streets, highways, bridges, and building components, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Performs on-site evaluations of construction activities, assessing materials, elevation grades, safety measures, and installations to verify adherence to contract specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews project plans, specifications, and permits related to assigned tasks.
  • Engages in discussions with contractors and stakeholders to address construction details and resolve issues.
  • May conduct field measurements and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assists in the coordination of material testing processes.
  • Identifies and addresses project-related issues on-site.
  • Monitors and reports non-compliance to relevant project team members.
  • Tracks the resolution of project deficiencies.
  • Recommends necessary adjustments to contracts or plans based on field conditions.
  • Keeps detailed records of materials and quantities utilized.
  • Calculates and suggests approval for contractor payments based on completed work.
  • Investigates public complaints regarding construction-related issues.
  • May conduct material tests and inspections at various sites.
  • May require collaboration with governmental agencies and private contractors.

Essential Duties:

  • Examines construction documentation and inspection reports to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Calculates payments owed to contractors for completed work.
  • Consults with project engineers and contractors regarding progress and challenges; reviews equipment usage and cost estimates.
  • Observes and assesses ongoing construction activities.
  • Oversees documentation processes related to construction records; recommends contractor payments and change orders.
  • Adheres to safety protocols in line with STV and TxDOT standards.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Typically receives detailed instructions for all tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Construction Inspector: 5 years in construction, maintenance, inspection, or related fields.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license required for driving company vehicles.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with traffic control device manuals.
  • Understanding of governmental laws and regulations relevant to the role.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles in daily tasks.
  • Strong public relations skills for effective communication.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting plans and blueprints.
  • Skilled in performing calculations using mathematical principles.
  • Proficient in using computer applications and systems.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to train in various settings.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.

Compensation Range: $44, $59,663.00
