Key Responsibilities:

The Grooming Specialist will be tasked with delivering grooming services to the animals in our care, aiming to alleviate pain and discomfort while aiding in their recovery or preparation for adoption. This role involves working directly with a variety of animals, including cats, dogs, and small critters, some of which may be fearful or under sedation. The animals may be recovering from injuries or have come from unsanitary conditions.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred grooming certification
  • Intermediate knowledge of grooming techniques, animal handling, and behavior
  • Ability to perform essential grooming tasks such as shave downs, sanitary cuts, nail trims, ear cleaning, bathing, and brushing
  • Skill in assessing individual animal needs and adjusting grooming methods accordingly
  • Thorough understanding of cleaning and care protocols, including proper chemical use and safety procedures
  • Capability to observe animals for signs of illness and stress, reporting any changes promptly
  • Collaboration with leadership and other teams to ensure timely service delivery for animals
  • Support additional duties within the Animal Care & Experience department as needed

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent standing, walking, and handling of animals and supplies weighing over 50 pounds. Continuous repetitive motion of the hands, arms, and legs is necessary, along with good vision and hearing. The ability to multitask and maintain a fast-paced work environment is essential.
