Overview

The Trade Finance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all financing activities are executed efficiently, in compliance with regulations, and effectively. This role focuses on enhancing cash flow, managing payment risks, currency exposure, and performance metrics, while collaborating with our financial partners. A robust understanding of international trade, interactions with counterparties, and the dynamics of global commodity and currency markets is crucial for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary contact for all trade finance-related responsibilities, including letters of credit, payment undertakings, and accounts receivable discounting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with traders, operations, risk management, and legal teams, ensuring proactive communication across departments.
  • Coordinate with banks and both local and international counterparts to guarantee timely issuance and receipt of financial securities, payments, and cargo deliveries.
  • Manage cash requirements through factoring or other financing methods.
  • Review contractual terms to ensure alignment with trade finance instrument specifications.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with banking partners to foster strong relationships and identify areas for improvement.
  • Explore and establish new banking relationships to enhance the company's financial portfolio.
  • Conduct credit assessments for international banking institutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address and resolve documentary discrepancies.
  • Contribute to the development and review of trade finance policies and procedures, including proposals for system enhancements.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement innovative trade finance products to streamline operations and improve departmental efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with specific country regulations and laws.
  • Prepare strategic and financial reports as needed.
  • Monitor trade finance-related models within the ERP system.
  • Conduct internal audits related to trade finance and perform risk control tests on procedures.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • A Master's degree is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Trade Finance within an energy commodity trading or banking context.
  • CDCS Certification is strongly desired.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UCP 600, ISP 98, and URR 525.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin and English, with strong reading and writing skills preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Experience collaborating with global teams across multiple time zones.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing large volumes of information.
  • A proactive approach, demonstrating agility and efficiency in a trading environment.
