About Us

With over a century of advocacy and expertise, AISC and the National Steel Bridge Alliance are recognized leaders in the steel bridge sector. The role of the Bridge Education Coordinator is pivotal in equipping bridge owners and designers with essential knowledge regarding all facets of steel bridge design and construction through comprehensive educational offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee the execution of Steel Bridge Forums (SBF), which are focused one-day technical seminars uniting industry decision-makers and specialists.
  • Collaborate with NSBA personnel to determine SBF venues, agendas, technical content, and speakers.
  • Facilitate logistics for speakers, venues, registration, and catering in conjunction with hosting organizations.
  • Evaluate technical materials to ensure compliance with continuing education standards.
  • Serve as the primary host for SBF, delivering presentations that showcase NSBA resources beneficial to bridge professionals.
  • Manage technical programming for the World Steel Bridge Symposium (WSBS) at NASCC: The Steel Conference, including serving as secretary for the planning committee.
  • Act as the main AISC/NSBA representative for national webinars on steel bridges, coordinating the development of educational materials and overseeing presentation quality.
  • Organize in-person short courses on steel bridge design spanning two to three days.
  • Engage with AISC full members to establish processes for local and regional presentations in collaboration with the NSBA Bridge Communications Specialist.
  • Lead outreach initiatives to universities regarding steel bridge engineering programs in partnership with AISC University Relations.
  • Disseminate case studies illustrating the competitive advantages of structural steel in bridge applications.
  • Educate AISC Full Members about NSBA tools and resources through quarterly webinars.
  • Represent NSBA at local and national trade exhibitions, promoting the benefits of structural steel for bridge projects.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across AISC departments to promote transparency and operational efficiency.
  • Support the AASHTO/NSBA Steel Bridge Collaboration.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of new resources for industry decision-makers.
  • Coordinate educational content across various communication platforms, including AISC and Modern Steel Construction websites.
  • Participate in national AASHTO meetings and regional bridge-related events as necessary.
  • Track educational activities and metrics using Salesforce.
  • Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned.
  • Support other AISC continuing education and university programs as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, ideally with a focus on structural engineering.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in bridge design and/or construction adhering to AASHTO and state DOT standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with engineers, fabricators, and transportation officials.
  • Proficiency in standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, etc.).
  • Familiarity with CRM systems is advantageous.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with experience presenting to groups and a positive, self-motivated attitude.
  • Capacity to work independently while maintaining a high level of organization.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to foster professional relationships.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
