Position Overview:

This role encompasses two primary functions: managing imaging processes and overseeing the digitization and integration of Radiology examinations and orders into the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). The position is predominantly computer-based, necessitating proficiency in various systems for the effective processing, interpretation, and dissemination of imaging data, which is crucial for patient care planning. Additionally, this team handles the Radiology Front Desk operations, including check-in for scheduled visits.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Facilitating the uploading and creation of CDs/DVDs for both intra-departmental and inter-departmental utilization.
    • Digitizing documentation and imaging data into the PACS database.
    • Providing assistance to physicians, technologists, and other staff during system downtimes and upgrades.
    • Executing clerical tasks and workflow processes in PACS, Exam Manager, OneView, Powerscribe, EPIC, Matrix Ray, and other relevant hospital systems.
    • Understanding on-call procedures and initiating the call-in process for urgent procedures.
    • Effectively communicating urgent results to healthcare providers and patients while ensuring HIPAA compliance and demonstrating empathy towards patients and their families.
    • Welcoming and registering outpatients for their appointments, ensuring accurate demographic and financial data collection.
    • Possessing knowledge of x-ray order entry and scheduling for walk-in patients.
    • Performing additional duties as necessary.

Technical Skills Required:

  1. Proficient computer skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
  2. Strong analytical abilities with problem-solving skills.
  3. Experience collaborating with various organizational levels is preferred.
  4. Prior experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
  5. Basic understanding of medical terminology is preferred.
  6. Excellent communication skills are essential for this position.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. This role involves significant computer and telephone work, customer interaction, and the ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
  2. A minimum of 1 year of experience in patient registration, scheduling, office administration, or a customer service role involving computer use is required.
  3. A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  4. Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is a plus.
  5. Certification as a Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or a related medical credential is advantageous.
  6. *Prior experience with the aforementioned software is not required; however, computer proficiency is essential.
