Job Description

The Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation are dedicated to empowering opportunity and justice-involved youth to transform their lives. Our schools provide a restorative, relevant school experience that prioritizes personalized academic support, well-being, and preparation for the post-Maya pathway of their choice.

We are seeking an Instructional Support Associate to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, and other school staff to support student learning. The successful candidate will maintain discipline among students in a courteous but firm manner, while also assisting with instructional and other classroom-based activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teachers with monitoring and supporting instructional activities
  • Serve as an Instructional Support (substitute teacher) for up to an entire day of instruction or a class period
  • Maintain order and discipline in classrooms
  • Assist with consistent reinforcement of appropriate behaviors
  • Monitor students in academic and non-academic settings
  • Participate in Intensive Behavior Intervention staff development in-service training
  • Assist with the implementation of behavior management techniques

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in education or subject-related field preferred
  • Three or more years of teaching or classroom-based experience
  • Experience in school-based behavior management and crisis intervention
