Michael Page is seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to lead the accounting team of a reputable construction company based in the Greater Providence RI area.

Company Overview

The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial management and reporting, budgeting and forecasting, compliance and risk management, and accounting operations. A strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including WIP and job costing, is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management and Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements, manage month-end and year-end close processes, and provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop annual budgets and forecasts, monitor budget performance, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, coordinate with external auditors, and develop internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee daily accounting operations, maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, and manage construction-specific accounting processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience in the construction industry, including familiarity with construction accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including WIP and job costing.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
