Position Overview:
The individual will oversee and advocate for designated Federal highway initiatives across the state or, as a collaborative resource, across multiple states.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide engineering guidance and supervision at various stages of project and program execution for Federal aid infrastructure initiatives within the designated areas.
This role involves engaging in a diverse array of engineering tasks related to the planning, development, and upkeep of highways and associated facilities.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must be U.S. citizens and meet specific experience criteria. Applicants are required to submit their application and resume through the designated online platform.
Educational Requirements:
All candidates must fulfill the educational prerequisites under either option A or B:
A.
Degree:
Engineering from an accredited institution.
To be considered acceptable, the program must:
(1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a recognized engineering school with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include advanced coursework in calculus and other engineering sciences.
OR
B.
Combination of Education and Experience:
College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that provides a solid understanding of the physical and mathematical sciences related to engineering.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-11 level, candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level, which includes:
- Involvement in the planning, design, or construction of highway or transportation project elements in accordance with established engineering standards.
For the GS-12 level, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, which includes:
- Experience in the planning, design, or construction of highway or transportation project elements and collaboration with stakeholders to address engineering challenges.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Applicants will be evaluated based on their expertise in civil engineering principles, technical credibility, compliance with regulations, and effective communication skills.
All relevant experience, including volunteer work, will be considered in the evaluation process.
