At GeorgiaGov, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Specialist to join our team on the 2nd shift. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional patient care and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Job Summary:
As a Patient Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing basic patient care and working with patients to develop daily living skills. You will also complete required documentation in patient records, take vital signs as needed, and ensure the safety and security of clients. Additionally, you will observe and document patient data, behavior, and activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides training to individuals in various areas depending on their needs.
- Completes required documentation in individual and unit records.
- Observes and maintains awareness of individuals' behavior and physical whereabouts to ensure their security and safety.
- Transports/accompanies individuals to appointments and activities in various locations.
- Participates in providing a safe, secure, clean, and attractive environment for individuals, visitors, and staff.
- Assists other staff members when admitting and orienting new individuals to units.
- Conducts activities for recreation and socialization.
- Provides clients with assistance walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
- Assists with identifying individuals in medication lines.
- Assists with lab draws and collecting bodily fluid specimens.
- Conducts environment rounds.
- Participates in interdisciplinary treatment teams.
- Participates in crisis de-escalation.
- Serves on hospital-wide committees.
- Facilitates group sessions.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with one year of experience and/or education providing direct care services to mental health and substance abuse and/or developmentally delayed individuals in a hospital, nursing home, or group home setting.
Salary Range: $40,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
