Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design and development of vehicle subsystems, ensuring integration from initial architecture to final implementation.
- Provide expert guidance, technical assessments, and mentorship throughout the project lifecycle.
- Establish subsystem and component specifications that align with safety, performance, and business goals.
- Select and manage partnerships with suppliers and vendors.
- Coordinate functional and physical interfaces among vehicle subsystems.
- Conduct and review analyses, modeling, and simulations to validate subsystem performance and safety standards.
- Engage with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain program coherence.
- Communicate subsystem design, requirements, and performance metrics effectively across various stakeholders.
- Interpret program objectives to conduct trade studies and define system architectures and interfaces.
- Prepare and present design reviews to validate design adequacy.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or a related STEM field).
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with the aircraft development process and aircraft subsystems.
- Strong grasp of engineering principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in leading aerospace system development from concept to production.
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and certification processes, particularly Part 23.
- Proficiency in CAD software (NX preferred) and mechanical systems analysis techniques.
- Licensed pilot status is a plus.
