Job Summary:

Becoming an Electrical Systems Specialist at Bennington College is an incredible opportunity to utilize your electrical expertise in a dynamic and customer-centric environment. As part of the Buildings & Grounds team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures on campus.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze building plans to identify existing wiring and devices, determine materials and equipment needs, and ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes.
  • Maintain and repair electrical apparatus, including fire alarm and telephone systems, to guarantee their safe and efficient operation.
  • Develop and implement effective preventative maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime and extend lifespan.
  • Collaborate with contractors, inspectors, suppliers, and colleagues to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and submit necessary logs and reports in a timely manner.

Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with six years of related electrical experience and a valid Journeyman Electrician's License (State of Vermont) are required.
  • A valid driver's license and successful completion of the College's annual Hazardous Communication Training Program are also mandatory.
  • The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills, be able to multitask, and demonstrate a strong ability to follow instructions, procedures, and written correspondence.
