Job Duties
- Lead Complex Programs: Oversee all phases of program management, including design, development, qualification, and production, ensuring projects meet cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to develop detailed Statements of Work, budgets, and schedules to meet contractual goals and achieve financial success.
- Customer Relations: Serve as the primary customer contact, managing program reviews, technical discussions, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Key Design Decisions: Oversee and influence key design decisions, integrating software, mechanical, and electrical considerations to ensure system functionality and manufacturability.
- Risk Management: Track budgets and schedules, proactively managing risks and developing recovery plans as necessary.
- Proposal Development: Prepare proposals, business plans, and contracts, ensuring alignment with financial and technical requirements.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Act as a mentor and leader for the Integrated Product Team (IPT), driving collaboration and innovation.
- Long-Term Relationships: Foster long-term customer relationships and leverage them for follow-on business opportunities.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and maintain comprehensive program documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- 9+ years of relevant experience in program management, preferably within the defense or aerospace sector.
- Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance; an active clearance is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage complex programs with overlapping hardware and software dependencies.
- Strong skills in risk management, negotiation, and stakeholder communication.
Preferred Experience
- Advanced degree or certifications such as PMP.
- Expertise in financial systems, budgeting, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Demonstrated leadership in guiding cross-functional teams and mentoring junior program managers.
- Familiarity with different contract types (FFP, T&M, CPFF) and their associated risks.
Benefits and Compensation
