Role Responsibilities

The Regional Safety Specialist: Manufacturing is tasked with the implementation and management of safety initiatives across ACI's manufacturing sectors. This role is crucial for ensuring adherence to safety protocols, providing regulatory and technical guidance, and delivering training across all organizational levels. The specialist will lead indirect reports to minimize risks and develop sustainable safety solutions that align with our core value of prioritizing people.

Main Duties
  • Establish robust partnerships with facility leadership to become a trusted advisor.
  • Conduct risk assessments and evaluate existing control measures.
  • Enhance the capabilities of facility teams in identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Collaborate proactively with manufacturing leaders to audit and strategize on identified safety opportunities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, offering regulatory guidance, technical support, and training across the organization.
  • Engage in the design, development, and implementation of policies and programs that ensure safety compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to develop safety programs and resources.
  • Assess the effectiveness of technical programs and ensure understanding and implementation.
  • Interpret and apply federal and state OSHA regulations and National Consensus Standards.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in hazard recognition and control, driving initiatives to eliminate risks.
  • Monitor compliance with safety policies to minimize claims and regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate with legal and cross-functional teams on regulatory matters.
  • Communicate updates on regulations to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Exhibit in-depth knowledge of safety programs, policies, and workers' compensation laws, translating them into actionable processes.
  • Assist business leaders in developing safety initiatives and budget priorities.
  • Work alongside senior safety team members to enhance incident reduction efforts.
  • Train and mentor peers and leadership to boost overall team effectiveness.
  • Experience in Behavior Based Safety Observations and implementing BBS principles.
  • Conduct analyses to address business requirements and track progress on action plans.
  • Review data integrity and contribute to developing solutions for safety reporting gaps.
  • Facilitate reporting related to workers' compensation claims and coordinate OSHA responsibilities.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $72,100 to $93,640 annually, with starting salaries varying based on location, experience, and qualifications. Exceptional candidates may receive flexibility in this regard. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation Pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay, and retirement benefits such as 401(k) eligibility.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Industry-recognized safety certifications (e.g., STS, OHST, CSHO, ASP) or progress towards achieving them.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience managing safety across multiple operations.
  • Experience working with government regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and compliance regulations.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and PSM/RMP regulations.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, thriving in challenging environments.
  • Advanced technical writing skills for policy and procedure documentation.
  • Ability to translate regulatory text into clear procedures.
  • Professional safety certification (CSP or ASP) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with claims financials and cost development preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
Travel Requirements
  • Ability to travel locally and/or overnight domestically: up to 50%.
  • Periodic multi-state travel may be necessary.
  • Travel may involve various modes of transportation.
