Your Role

We are looking for a mid to senior-level engineering professional to enhance our Midwest operations. This role presents substantial opportunities for leadership and advancement within the regional solid waste sector. The ideal candidate will engage in both technical responsibilities and business development initiatives. Previous experience in consulting or environmental engineering is highly valued.

Our solid waste division offers a comprehensive suite of consulting services to municipal, industrial, and commercial clients. Projects encompass waste management planning, permitting, and the design and construction of waste management facilities, including landfills, recycling centers, and resource recovery projects.

The successful candidate will be proactive, thrive in a team-oriented environment, and possess a strong desire for professional growth. Responsibilities will include managing and executing project tasks, fostering client relationships, and contributing to our strategic direction and growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of experts to support clients on various solid waste and environmental projects, including but not limited to:
    • Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), Construction & Demolition (C&D), and Industrial Waste Landfills
    • Landfill gas management and utilization
    • Leachate treatment and management
    • Transfer stations and material recovery facilities
    • Solid waste management strategies and planning
    • Sustainability assessments and waste reduction studies
    • Organic waste management approaches
    • Waste diversion analysis and alternatives
    • Environmental services, due diligence, and regulatory compliance
    • Investigation and remediation
    • Stormwater management and permitting
  • Lead and manage technical projects
  • Conduct quality control reviews for project deliverables
  • Prepare and review project proposals
  • Assist in business planning and strategic initiatives to expand our client base
  • Play a pivotal role in developing new client relationships
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on solid waste management and infrastructure projects
  • Prepare technical documentation, including reports, designs, specifications, and permit applications
  • Engage with clients and subcontractors to ensure project objectives are met efficiently

Qualifications

Skills and Credentials

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Experience in preparing project scopes and fee estimates
  • Strong technical skills in engineering design and regulatory documentation
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and project inspections
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong client relationship management capabilities
  • Proficient in MS Office applications; familiarity with AutoCAD and modeling software is advantageous
  • Valid driver's license required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in an engineering consulting environment
  • At least three years of project management experience preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) registration, or eligibility to obtain

This position typically involves working in an office environment with extensive computer use. Fieldwork may require exposure to various weather conditions.
