Mental Health Case Manager

The Peer Recovery Support Specialist at UnityPoint Health will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide recovery-oriented in-home and community-based services to adults with severe mental illnesses. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work sensitively with clients and families. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of trauma-informed care and be able to apply critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to a wide range of client situations.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include providing comprehensive case management and psychosocial rehabilitation services, conducting individual and group trainings, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. You will also be responsible for linking clients to mental health services and programs, identifying available support systems, and responding to crises situations. Furthermore, you will establish and maintain good working relationships with the medical, educational, and social services community. Additionally, you will demonstrate proficiency in teaching/learning theories, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. You will also be expected to handle multiple priorities, maintain composure under stress, and adapt to a fast-paced changing environment.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess a Bachelor's degree in behavioral healthcare services or a related field. Alternatively, you can have a certificate of psychiatric rehabilitation from a DHS-approved program plus a high school diploma and two years of experience in providing mental health or human services. It is essential that you have lived experience with mental illness and are able to read, write, and communicate effectively. You should also be certified as a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) within one year of hire and hold Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Finally, you must be proficient in the use of computer programs, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) applications.
