GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Railway Maintenance Technician in Fleet Operations is tasked with the upkeep and repair of the company's railway maintenance machinery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Safety Commitment

  • Adheres consistently to established safety protocols and regulations.
  • Possesses knowledge of on-track safety and can articulate details when required.
  • Capable of locating all emergency equipment and demonstrating proper usage to the superintendent.

Operational Proficiency and Technical Skills

  • Operates heavy maintenance forklifts and related machinery.
  • Can describe the functions of equipment controls and indicators.
  • Utilizes Concur for expense management.
  • Employs CLC for accommodation arrangements.
  • Ensures that returned parts are accurately tagged.
  • Responsible for maintaining training records as needed through Cornerstone.
  • Coordinates service for and oversees maintenance of OR trucks.
  • Understands and meets the responsibilities of a Safety Monitor.
  • Recognizes when updates to job briefings are necessary.
  • Identifies and explains confined space entry rules and procedures.
  • Understands and implements Lockout Tagout procedures.
  • Operates a torch safely and can explain all operational settings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Minimum of 6 months working with Loram equipment or equivalent in a continuous operation environment. At least 2 years of demonstrated technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and machinery operations. A minimum of 3 years of proven ability to work without injury or accidents.

Licenses/Certifications: Must maintain Railroad Certifications, Loram Operating Rules Certification, and complete all required Loram E-Learning, On-the-Job, and third-party safety training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate Degree or Technical Certification preferred.
