  • Patrol and Investigation: Patrol designated areas of the city on foot and/or in a radio-equipped patrol car, conducting investigations, and gathering evidence to solve crimes.
  • Community Engagement: Interact and work with diverse groups of people within the department and the community to provide excellent customer service and collect information.
  • Problem-Solving and Coordination: Use problem-solving skills, creativity, and innovative approaches to identify community concerns, present options for courses of action, identify resources, plan for implementation, and evaluate success.
  • Documentation and Communication: Prepare written reports and memoranda summarizing information, and use computers for reports, communications, and information retrieval.
  • Testimony and Safety: Testify in court regarding policing duties and take proper safety precautions to prevent accidents, ensuring the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensure: Minnesota P.O.S.T. license by appointment date.
  • Driver's License: Valid MN Driver's License.
