The successful candidate will excel in a resource-limited setting, adept at transforming ambiguous ideas into tangible prototypes through systematic inquiry and experimentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of state-of-the-art pulsed power systems.
- Rapidly prototype and refine innovative designs.
- Ensure safe and effective laboratory testing and operations.
- Manage design specifications and maintain thorough documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive performance, longevity, and safety evaluations.
- Engage in hands-on work within a resource and schedule-constrained environment.
- Iterate on prototypes based on experimental findings.
- Perform LTspice modeling and simulations.
- Create custom diagnostic tools from the ground up.
- Approach challenges with a logical and innovative mindset.
- Clearly communicate technical concepts to team members and stakeholders.

- Demonstrate expertise in high voltage systems and components.
- Possess experience in electrostatic simulations.
- Exhibit strong foundational engineering principles.
- Have an in-depth understanding of pulsed power systems.
- Possess a background in plasma physics.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge in surface mount soldering, EMI circuit protection, and Arduino-based circuit control.
- Understand solid-state power components and circuits, including switched mode power supply designs, transformers, capacitors, MOSFETs, thyristors, and integrated circuits.
- Be an effective communicator capable of collaborating within an integrated team, including regular interactions with technicians, engineers, managers, and suppliers.
- Have hands-on experience in fabrication and troubleshooting processes.
- Be enthusiastic about working in a startup culture and environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and development of pulsed power systems.
- Proficiency in LTSpice or comparable circuit simulation software.
- Experience with capacitive energy storage systems, gas and liquid switching, and vacuum power flow technologies.
- Exceptional experimental and prototyping capabilities.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Strong foundational engineering principles.
- Expertise in pulsed power systems.
- Background in plasma physics.
- Basic knowledge of surface mount soldering, EMI protection, and Arduino circuit control.
- Understanding of solid-state power components and circuits.
