We are seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Therapist to join our team at the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. As a key member of our Psychosocial Rehabilitation/Recovery Department, you will be responsible for directing, integrating, and coordinating the clinical and administrative functions of the department.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement evidence-based program development to promote recovery and wellness in individuals with serious mental illness, developmental disorders, and addiction.
- Lead an interdisciplinary team of therapists, including occupational therapy, music therapy, recreational therapy, client education, religious services, vocational rehabilitation, community outings, and peer mentoring.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of services and effective communication with all levels of staff and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care and support for individuals and families.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices, research, and emerging trends in rehabilitation therapy to inform program development and implementation.
- Licensure and/or certification in one of the following areas of therapy: Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Recreation Therapy.
- Extensive clinical experience in developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitative services.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
- Experience working as an Art or Music Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Recreation Therapist in a psychiatric, healthcare facility, acute care, long-term, or correctional setting.
- Veterans and individuals with National Service experience are encouraged to apply.
