Senior Digital Electronics Design Engineer

Draper Labs is seeking a Senior Digital Electronics Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Harsh Environments Electronics Group, you will design, develop, and verify high-reliability digital electronics for a wide range of applications. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping digital hardware architectures and leading electronics development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures.
- Design and develop instruments, including microprocessors, power, and analog components.
- Innovatively solve complex issues and drive project completion to schedule.
- Build and test prototypes, debug, and prepare documentation for manufacturing and support.
- Research and enable innovative solutions for cutting-edge designs.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to develop reliable, cost-effective solutions.
- Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction.
- Independently perform complex electronic architectures and designs.
- Provide insight and suggest design modifications based on simulation results.
- Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage tasks with multiple engineers and communicate status to project leadership and customers.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and provide constructive feedback.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in electronic design, microprocessor, or embedded computing.
- Understanding of design and general computer architecture.
- Ability to write detailed design specifications.
- Computer programming and coding abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Schematic capture and board layout experience.
- Experience integrating and debugging embedded systems.
- Ability to perform circuit simulation using HyperLynx and ANSYS.
Location:
Draper Labs is headquartered in Cambridge, MA. The ability to be in our facilities as needed is required.
