Maintenance Worker

Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A valid driver's license is necessary. Must uphold school regulations and policies professionally. Ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues and students. Capable of comprehending and executing basic oral and written instructions. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds and demonstrate the necessary strength, agility, and dexterity to perform all essential tasks.

Director of Building and Grounds

Job Goals:
To ensure a clean and safe environment, allowing students and staff to fully benefit from the district's educational and extracurricular programs. Specific responsibilities will be outlined by the Buildings and Grounds Coordinator.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintain cleanliness of the building and surrounding premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas.
  2. Manage heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure appropriate seasonal temperatures and economical resource usage.
  3. Clear snow and ice from walkways and steps as necessary.
  4. Verify that all exit doors are accessible and panic bolts function correctly during occupancy hours.
  5. Regularly sweep/vacuum classrooms and dust furniture.
  6. Clean corridors after school and as needed throughout the day.
  7. Disinfect toilet floors daily and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains.
  8. Wash windows, both inside and outside, as required.
  9. Keep grounds free of litter.
  10. Perform yard maintenance to ensure school grounds are safe and appealing.
  11. Maintain all floors in a clean and well-preserved condition.
  12. Conduct minor repairs as capable.
  13. Promptly report major repair needs to the Buildings and Grounds Coordinator.
  14. May need to keep a schedule for regular servicing of motors and mechanical equipment.
  15. Report any damage to school property immediately.
  16. Remain on school premises during school hours and during authorized non-school hours.
  17. Responsible for opening and closing the building each school day, ensuring all doors and windows are secured and lights are turned off.
  18. Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment, requesting replacements in advance to avoid disruptions.
  19. Conduct ongoing maintenance, upkeep, and repairs.
  20. Move furniture or equipment as required for various activities.
  21. Comply with local laws regarding the storage and disposal of waste.
  22. May conduct periodic inspections of electrical installations to ensure safety.
  23. Perform yearly inspections with relevant service companies.
  24. Complete required yearly certifications.
  25. Foster a positive, professional relationship with staff members.
  26. May be required to respond to emergency calls after hours as assigned.
  27. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Coordinator.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year established by the Board of Education

Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually.
