POSITION SUMMARY
The Surgical Staff Technician plays a vital role in supporting the surgical team by ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist surgeons and medical personnel as a sterile member of the surgical team, adhering strictly to aseptic protocols.
- Prepare medications under the supervision of the responsible registered nurse during surgical procedures.
- Execute assigned tasks accurately and promptly as directed by the Director or the Operating Room Charge Nurse.
- Report any damaged surgical instruments or equipment following established protocols.
- Maintain a safe and tranquil environment for patients and healthcare staff.
- Support nursing staff by scrubbing in on various surgical procedures efficiently.
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical equipment functionality and usage.
- Ensure a clean and safe workspace to mitigate risks of surgical harm or injury.
- Facilitate the swift turnover of surgical cases.
- Act as a resource and mentor for new staff when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an outpatient surgical environment.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) as per American Heart Association guidelines is required prior to employment.
