Job Summary

This is a challenging role for a seasoned engineer to lead the flight test team at GE Aviation. The successful candidate will have a strong background in flight test engineering and experience in managing teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the flight test team to ensure successful completion of flight test objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive flight test mission, readiness review, and safety planning.
  • Develop and execute plans for flight test operations, including pre- and post-flight briefing meetings.
  • Maintain open communication with the flight test team, GE Aviation internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement training modules as necessary.
  • Coach less experienced team members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 6 additional years of experience in a flight test related engineering position.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible and off-shift hours when business needs dictate.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and support operations at offsite locations when business needs dictate.
  • Ability and willingness to fly aboard an experimental aircraft including participation in development flight tests.
  • Able to obtain and maintain FAA Class-3 medical certificate or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with flight test operation and airframe/propulsion system integration.
  • Familiarity with jet engine (turbomachinery) SPOCT.
  • Familiarity with Boeing 747 aircraft systems, including capability and limitations.
  • Familiarity with flight test and turbomachinery instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with flight test risk and hazard management.
  • Familiarity with human factors, flight physiology, and crew resource management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
