Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team at GE Aviation. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of mechanical systems for our aircraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, analysis, and evaluation of mechanical systems, including pylon, test enabling hardware, and aircraft modification.
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting assigned projects, ensuring adherence to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Document technical data generated by assigned projects, consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Communicate significant issues or developments to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Participate in teams addressing organizational initiatives and generic issues.
  • Present or review technical and program information in meetings and reviews.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and tasks, consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Coach less experienced team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible and off-shift hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, when business needs dictate.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and support operations at offsite locations when business needs dictate.
  • Ability and willingness to fly aboard an experimental aircraft, including participation in development flight tests.
  • Able to obtain and maintain an FAA Class-3 medical certificate or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter and NX application.

  • Familiarity with flight test operation and airframe/propulsion system integration.
  • Familiarity with jet engine (turbomachinery) and nacelle design.
  • Familiarity with aircraft structures and systems design and analysis.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Unigraphics, or equivalent for drafting/modeling.
  • Experience with structural dynamics, loads, and stress analysis.
  • Experience in design, analysis, manufacturing, and integration of structures, low and high-pressure fluid systems, and pneumatic systems in an aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes and methods.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
