Zurich is on the lookout for a Construction Liability Underwriter at either Level II or Senior Level III for our Commercial Insurance division. This role is based in a hybrid work environment, requiring in-office attendance two days a week.
Role Levels:
This position can be filled at either the Construction Liability Underwriter (Level II) or Senior Construction Liability Underwriter (Level III). The hiring manager will assess the appropriate level based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Construction Liability Underwriter, you will leverage your marketing and analytical expertise to:
1. Analyze and underwrite both new and renewal business, following The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within designated authority levels, particularly for complex assignments, ensuring exceptional service to clients.
2. Administer and oversee underwriting rules, rating manual guidelines, and compliance with insurance laws and regulations.
3. Cultivate and maintain relationships with distributors (agents and brokers) to support business retention and growth, while addressing their insurance needs with tailored solutions.
4. Enhance the organization's sales culture by serving as a resource for agents, brokers, and clients.
5. Actively pursue renewal and new account opportunities, conducting thorough assessments with key distributors to identify growth prospects.
6. Evaluate accounts to align with the organization's risk appetite while balancing sound business opportunities.
7. Conduct broker/customer visits with a well-prepared agenda.
Basic Qualifications:
For Level II:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with a minimum of 3 years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 6 years in Claims or Underwriting Support, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1 year in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4 years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
- Knowledge of business lines and legal/regulatory guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
For Level III:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with a minimum of 5 years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 10 years in Claims or Underwriting Support, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3 years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8 years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Technical expertise in commercial Construction Liability Underwriting.
- Established relationships with brokers in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
- Strong sales execution mindset and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
