Firefighter

Join the Davidson County Sheriff's Office as a Firefighter and be part of a team dedicated to protecting the community from fires and emergencies.

We are seeking a highly skilled and physically fit individual to join our fire department as a Firefighter. As a Firefighter, you will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, fighting fires, and performing various tasks to maintain the safety of the community.

• Respond to emergency calls and fight fires using a variety of equipment and techniques.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of fire equipment and vehicles.
• Participate in training exercises and drills to stay up-to-date on the latest firefighting techniques and procedures.
• Work closely with other emergency responders to provide a rapid and effective response to emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by superiors.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class B North Carolina driver's license or valid Class E South Carolina driver's license required.
• IFSAC/Pro Board Firefighter Certification required.
• North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician certification required.
• Must meet the medical requirements set forth in NFPA 1582 Chapter 6: Medical Evaluations of Candidates.

• IFSAC/Pro Board Driver Operator-Pumps and Aerials certification.
• IFSAC/Pro Board Technical Rescuer certification.
• Two years of career firefighting experience.

Firefighters work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent exposure to hazardous materials and emergency situations. Must be able to lift, move, and maintain position on items up to 100 pounds, push objects up to 50 pounds, pull objects from 25 to 50 pounds, and lift or pull victims weighing more than 150 pounds. Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, hearing, and perform repetitive motions. Must possess the visual acuity to operate trucks and other equipment, observe the color, volume, and extent of fire involvement, and prepare manual and computerized records.
