Staff Veterinarian Opportunity at the Saint Louis Zoo

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Veterinarian to join our team at the Saint Louis Zoo. As a key member of our animal health team, you will play a critical role in the care and well-being of our diverse collection of animals.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical medicine and preventive medicine programs for our animals on three campuses
  • Train residents in an ACZM-compliant residency program in Zoological Medicine
  • Develop and implement herd medical management strategies for our Safari Park campus
  • Collaborate with our team to advance zoological medicine and conservation within the scope of our programs
Qualifications:
  • Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent) and ability to practice veterinary medicine in the United States
  • Missouri veterinary license and USDA accreditation within 6 months of employment
  • Eligibility to obtain a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) practitioner license and registration under the Missouri Board of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD)
  • Board-eligibility or Diplomate status in the American College of Zoological Medicine (ACZM) is desirable

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellence in clinical decision making, knowledge and experience in zoological medicine, and strong communication skills. They will be able to work both independently and collaboratively, and be able to practice medicine and surgery on all zoo animal species under our care.
