About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Lifespan. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing a safe and therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Assist in preparing the operating room, including setting up equipment and ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are available.
  • Surgical Scrub Role: Demonstrate expertise in instrumentation and materials, including sutures, and assist the surgeon as needed.
  • Instrumentation and Equipment: Demonstrate knowledge of surgical field set-up, including instruments and equipment, and assist with the optimum utilization of resources.
  • Asepsis and Infection Control: Demonstrate knowledge of AORN standards of asepsis, including surgical scrubbing, donning of gowns and gloves, and creating and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Demonstrate competency in preparing and utilizing equipment, including OR tables, harmonic scalpel, lasers, suction devices, and other equipment.
  • Patient Safety: Maintain a safe environment for patients, physicians, and other surgical services staff, and assist in safely moving patients to and from the operating table.
  • Communication: Maintain a positive professional relationship with peers, patients, patient families/care-givers, and other colleagues.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent experience.
  • Certification: Current BLS certification required upon hire.
  • Skills: Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
