Position Overview & Responsibilities:

The Engineering Project Manager is a crucial on-site role working with a client in the pulp and paper industry.

This position is essential in advancing the client's goals by managing the daily execution of significant capital and operational projects.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the individual ensures that all strategies, capital planning, engineering, procurement, and construction efforts are executed safely and efficiently, while adhering to Government and Company standards, policies, and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all facets of capital, operational, and continuous improvement projects, including defining project scope and execution planning.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS regulations and procedures throughout all project management activities.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, metrics, timelines, and resource allocations, emphasizing HSE planning and compliance.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and constructive feedback to project teams, ensuring that milestones and deliverables are achieved.
  • Communicate project progress to executives and stakeholders through various communication channels.
  • Conduct Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) and contribute to business case development.
  • Negotiate contracts with external suppliers and service providers.
  • Offer technical support and solutions within cross-functional teams.
  • Supervise engineering and construction contractors as necessary.
  • Analyze operational and maintenance challenges and propose effective solutions.
  • Prepare procurement specifications and contract documentation.
  • Oversee capital and maintenance projects, including budget management and commissioning activities.
  • Conduct inspections and evaluations of equipment as required.
Required Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; preference for Electrical or Mechanical disciplines.
  • 5-10 years of experience in an industrial mill environment as a Project Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Experience in construction management and/or maintenance within an industrial/process plant setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer-based maintenance management systems such as SAP, MS Office, and scheduling tools. Skills in AutoCAD are a plus.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
