Mental Health Support Specialist

The Mental Health Support Specialist plays a vital role at WVFSRS, providing technical support and ensuring the safety and security of residents within our inpatient homes. This dynamic individual will be responsible for monitoring social recovery events, maintaining documentation, and facilitating adult life classes.
About the Role
This position requires prior experience working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorder or lived experience. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, but one year of experience in a related field can be accepted in lieu of formal education. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Salary and Benefits
The estimated annual salary for this position is $45,000 - $55,000, depending on location and experience. Additional benefits may include health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor the safety and security of residents within designated homes
• Perform perimeter checks and hourly counts
• Participate in social recovery events such as AA/NA meetings
• Maintain accurate documentation of shift log notes, bed checks, and report data
• Facilitate one adult life class per week and provide documentation
• Conduct facility and room searches as needed
• Report situations of concern to on-call supervisors and emergency personnel when necessary
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
• One year of experience in a related field or security task (accepted in lieu of diploma)
• Lived experience with mental health and/or SUD or experience working with individuals with mental health and/or SUD
• Valid driver's license and transportation
• Proficient understanding of basic office applications and computer skills
Certifications
All certifications required prior to start date with revalidation per company policy
• HIPAA
• Adult CPR-First Aid
• Blood Borne Pathogens
• CPI validation required within 30 days of employment with revalidation per company policy
Work Environment
The Mental Health Support Specialist will work in a fast-paced residential care environment, interacting with residents, staff, and external agencies. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential for this role.
