Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Jackson North Medical Center - JNorth Multispecialty. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing complex ultrasound examinations using specialized equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Scans patients and maintains safety precautions while administering treatments, taking into account the age-specific needs of the patient.
  • Acquires pertinent clinical information from patient charts and/or computer systems, ensuring safety standards are met for the patient's age-specific needs.
  • Develops films when necessary and records complete procedures in the computer (HIS System) and daily log, including technician initials.
  • Transports patients to different areas of the x-ray department, performs portable exams, and assists radiologists in O.R. cases.
  • Provides preliminary impressions to physicians after exam completion, when reports are not in the computer, and explains patient prep requirements to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Assists radiologists in special procedures, sets necessary equipment and supplies, and reports equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Cleans examination rooms after each patient and adheres to infection control policies and procedures, including Universal Precautions.
  • Trains ultrasound students, residents, and fellows, and reviews CQI Quarterly Reports in Section Meetings, contributing to continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited program in Ultrasound Technology is required.
  • ARDMS registration is mandatory, with employees hired before 2/1/2017 required to obtain certification by 12/31/2017, and those hired after 2/1/2017 completing training within six months of hire.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire, with at least 6 months' validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
Working Conditions

This role requires extended standing or walking, with the ability to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds and lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. The job function also involves frequent visual acuity for extended computer use.
