Job Summary

The Brooklyn Hospital Center seeks a skilled Child Life Specialist to provide emotional support and recreational programs to pediatric patients and their families. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child development and be able to implement psychosocial interventions to promote emotional, developmental, and cognitive growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement recreational programs and activities to promote emotional health and well-being in pediatric patients.
  • Provide individualized support to patients and families to address their unique needs and concerns.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for patients.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in child life and recreational therapy to provide evidence-based interventions.
  • Document patient progress and outcomes to inform treatment plans and improve services.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Life or a related field.
  • Master's Degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience working with pediatric populations in a medical setting.
  • Child Life Certification by the Child Life Certifying Committee.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
