Job Description:


This is a part-time (24 hours per week, 60% effort) professional / unclassified position at the National Center for Disaster Fraud (NCDF), a program within the Stephenson National Center for Security Research and Training (SNCSRT) at LSU.

The Fraud Analyst will operate in a remote capacity, providing support for the Federal Housing Finance Agency Office of the Inspector General Hotline.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Analyze and assess incoming Hotline FHFA OIG complaints to verify that the initial claims of fraud, waste, and/or abuse are relevant to Federal Home Loan Banks and/or Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs - Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae). (20%)


2. Conduct further preliminary investigative actions to enhance and substantiate the initial complaint following NCDF's protocols. (20%)


3. Collaborate with NCDF personnel to ensure ongoing quality control and training, while also working with NCDF supervisory staff to maintain the integrity of statistical reporting of Hotline complaints. (20%)


4. Compile complaint information and direct incoming complaints to the appropriate federal agency or OIG for necessary action. (20%)


5. Oversee the timeline of all Hotline cases to guarantee timely openings and closures, managing responses on Hotline cases to establish GSE connections within 7 days. (15%)


6. Address inquiries from FHFA-OIG FOIA Office and respond to requests for clarification or further action from OIG Investigators/Hotline Supervisor. (5%)



Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of investigative experience or equivalent experience as a white-collar criminal investigator. In-depth knowledge of essential elements and processes used to investigate allegations of fraud is required. Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent verbal/written communication skills are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience in a hotline environment is advantageous.

Special / Physical Qualifications:

Must possess the ability to pass a federal background check. Travel may also be required.

Physical Demands:


Physical ability and eye-hand coordination necessary to use a computer terminal, copier, telephone, and other standard office equipment; ability to sit in the same position for extended periods (5.5+ hours a day) at a time using continuous hand motions when entering data into the computer system.
