POSITION OVERVIEW
The role of the operator is to meticulously execute tasks as outlined in work instructions pertaining to the machining of SMC components within a clean room setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The operator is responsible for managing the welding machine operations and maintenance essential for producing components. The following tasks are integral to this position:
  • Machine Setup: Conduct machine changeovers to manufacture various components based on daily production requirements.
  • Preparation: Utilize blueprints to configure the welding lathe according to job specifications, insert necessary tooling (such as tungsten tips), and gather all materials required for the assigned tasks. This process will be repeated for each job throughout the day.
  • Operation: Oversee the machine during operation, making necessary adjustments or troubleshooting issues to ensure the production of high-quality components that meet specifications. Employ measurement tools (e.g., scopes) to verify that desired outcomes are achieved, perform preventative maintenance on machinery, and maintain an organized workstation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively within a team to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all company policies and safety protocols.
  • Additional Duties: Execute other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor on a daily basis.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the employee to stand, walk, and use their hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls, as well as reach with their arms. The role may involve lifting heavy components; an overhead hoist will be provided to assist with this task.
The production facility is temperature-controlled, but employees may encounter noise, heat, cold, dust, lubricants, and/or solvents.
The welding process utilizes TIG technology, which emits powerful UV intensity; therefore, appropriate protective gear such as welding clothing, masks, gloves, and insulated footwear must be worn.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • No prior welding experience is necessary; SMC will provide comprehensive training.
  • Willingness to work overtime during weekdays and weekends as required, with part-time shifts available between 7 AM - 5 PM and multiple daytime shifts offered.
  • Basic computer literacy and mathematical skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment to boost productivity and quality.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary.
