As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing coaching, mentoring, and consultation to individuals struggling with behavioral health disorders and substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide wellness management strategies, including manualized interventions such as Wellness Recovery Action Planning or Illness Management and Recovery.
- Assist individuals in developing psychiatric advance directives.
- Assist with behavioral and substance abuse treatment interventions.
- Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal actions to encourage wellness and resilience.
- Provide consultation to team members to assist in understanding of recovery and the role of the Peer Support Specialist.
- Participate in the initial Person-Centered Plan and its ongoing revisions.
- Support and empower individuals to exercise their legal rights within the community.
- Participate in a first responder on-call system available to consumers and/or their natural support network.
- Represent the company in a positive manner at all times.
- Ensure confidentiality regarding sensitive and protected information.
- Maintain required records, including documentation of progress notes and timely and accurate compliance of medical records.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Demonstrate knowledge of the population served
- Certified Peer Support Specialist
- Valid driver's license
- North Carolina Peer Support Certification
