Salary Range:
$80,000 - $119,000
The specific salary offered will be determined by various factors, including the candidate's relevant experience, educational background, and work location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the performance of Field Construction Managers involved in the construction of electric substations and related projects.
- Assess contract resource needs and service specifications while managing contractor performance.
- Coordinate field inspections and ensure timely sign-offs for construction projects.
- Monitor outsourced construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards, quality benchmarks, schedules, and budgetary constraints.
- Review and evaluate contracts and agreements impacting project execution and provide recommendations.
- Collaborate with management to address issues and coordinate activities with field construction teams.
- Integrate construction management into planning, scheduling, cost tracking, and acceptance activities.
- Ensure Field Construction Managers acquire necessary materials and manage material handling plans effectively.
- Align construction schedules for transmission substations and lines with other functional areas.
- Provide feedback on constructability concerning electrical, mechanical, protection, and civil construction standards.
- Research and implement necessary changes to align with industry standards and organizational goals.
- Work with other business units, contractors, and experts to resolve disputes and prioritize requirements.
- Engage in the budget process to manage manpower and control construction costs.
- Participate in negotiations and planning efforts for transmission facilities construction projects.
- Assist in addressing emergencies related to substation and transmission systems as needed.
- Identify construction risks during planning and execution phases and develop mitigation strategies.
Safety Commitment:
Maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all safety policies and practices. Properly utilize safety gear and promptly address unsafe conditions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- At least ten years of progressive experience in the electric utility industry, with a focus on construction management preferred.
- Five years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Project or equivalent software.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Willingness to travel to construction sites and attend meetings as necessary.
- Experience in relevant functional areas such as Substations, T&D, Gas-Hydro, and OSG.
