Position Title: Electrical Engineer II

Location: Wilmington, NC 28405

Contract Duration: 12+ Months (Possible Extension)

Compensation: $40 to $42/hr

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 am – 5 pm

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee initial equipment setup and debugging prior to operational turnover.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support, guiding engineering technicians and trades to replace faulty components and implement design modifications for equipment/process challenges.
  • Source and expedite materials for new or revised equipment.
  • Create and manage electrical installation checklists and timelines, ensuring proper adherence.
  • Prepare work orders and supervise maintenance personnel and/or external contractors in the assembly, testing, and installation of equipment.
  • Review and update installation documentation and schematics as necessary.
  • Modify software applications utilized for process equipment control.
  • Understand and configure machine controls for both digital and analog I/O.
  • Revise existing schematics and collaborate with drafting services or oversee draftsmen to resolve design issues.
  • Train engineering technicians, internal maintenance staff, and external contractors on new equipment installation procedures to ensure successful execution.
  • Redesign electrical components to minimize installation costs, address equipment interferences, and rectify inadequate designs.
  • Analyze and enhance equipment installation practices to boost efficiency, focusing on improving installation timelines.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; other degrees may be considered based on relevant experience.

Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in a related field.

Special Requirements:
  • Majority of work will be conducted on the production floor.
  • Strong hands-on skills and practical aptitude.
  • Proficient in electro-mechanical troubleshooting and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of motion control systems: servo, stepper, DC, AC drives.
  • Understanding of process variables: flow, temperature, rate, pressure, level.
  • Thorough knowledge of current loops and serial communication protocols: RS232/485, Ethernet, IEEE-488.
  • Familiarity with machine control systems and classical control theory.

Preferred Software and Equipment Experience:
  • Proficient in Windows, MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), AutoCAD 2023, AutoCAD Electrical 2023, MS Project, PLC and PC-based systems, Allen-Bradley PLC, Beckhoff PLC/Motion Control, B-R Control, Fanuc Robotics, C++, Visual Basic, IFix, and automated equipment systems.

Equipment Familiarity:
  • Experience with Fluke Meters, Oscilloscopes, and other electronic testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Controllers.
  • Familiarity with equipment used for machine installation tasks, including man lifts and hand tools.

Additional Information:
  • This position is based in Wilmington, NC, with potential for future assignments at various locations.
  • Contractors demonstrating exceptional performance may be considered for further opportunities.
  • Travel requirements may vary based on project needs.

Job Type: Full-time, Contract

Pay Rate: $42.00 per hour

Expected Hours: 40 hours per week

Schedule:
  • 8-hour shifts
  • Day shifts
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime may be required

Commute: Preferred candidates should be located in Wilmington, NC.

Relocation: Candidates must be willing to relocate to Wilmington, NC 28405 before commencing work.

Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% is preferred.
