SUMMARY

The City of Atlanta's Department of Human Resources (DHR) is in search of a skilled Project Management Specialist II with expertise in managing medium to large-scale initiatives, strategic planning, process enhancement, and collaborative development. This position will report to the Deputy HR Commissioner and will be pivotal in advancing significant progress and measurable outcomes aligned with DHR's objectives.

The Project Management Specialist II will concentrate on immediate, high-impact initiatives pertinent to DHR's strategic goals. The selected candidate will work closely with HR personnel within the department, across the city, and with external partners to pinpoint challenges, identify strategic opportunities, and formulate implementation strategies for successful results.

As a candidate, you are expected to possess professional experience in project management, process enhancement, and strategic planning, showcasing a proven ability to manage medium to large-scale projects effectively.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees medium to large-scale HR initiatives, facilitating project meetings, guiding team interactions, managing project scope, timelines, budgets, and ensuring timely execution;
  • Employs project management methodologies and data analysis to identify areas for improvement and opportunities;
  • Creates performance enhancement recommendations and implementation strategies within defined constraints;
  • Establishes objectives and develops action-oriented plans to drive departmental success;
  • Collaborates with the department on strategic opportunities and implementation strategies for HR initiatives;
  • Generates clear and concise documentation for effective communication of challenges and recommendations;
  • Delivers updates and results on HR projects;
  • Supports DHR's strategic framework and best practices for innovation and performance enhancement;
  • Builds and nurtures effective relationships with diverse stakeholders;
  • Proactively identifies solutions;
  • Completes assigned responsibilities;
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

This role requires outstanding problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, the capacity to lead transformations involving multiple stakeholders, prioritize competing demands, manage several projects concurrently, communicate effectively with a diverse audience, and a resourceful, results-driven approach to work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in business/public administration, finance, public policy, human resources management, or related fields;
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in project management, business analysis, finance, operations, or consulting;
  • Demonstrated success in delivering medium to large-scale projects on schedule and within budget;
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Master's degree in business/public administration, finance, public policy, industrial engineering, or relevant fields;
  • 6-8 years of experience in project management, business analysis, finance, operations, or consulting;
  • Experience in management, strategy, operational consulting, and human resources projects.
