Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Probation Officer to join our team at the Colorado Judicial Branch. As a Probation Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring public safety and providing support to individuals on probation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct face-to-face appointments and interviews with clients to assess their needs and develop case plans.
  • Perform case management duties, including documenting client-related activities and reviewing court orders.
  • Conduct on-going assessments to determine treatment needs and risk to the community.
  • Develop and implement effective case plans to guide supervision and ensure compliance with court-imposed conditions.
  • Assess, prioritize, and respond to critical incidents and potential risks in the field and office.
  • De-escalate hostile/agitated clients and potentially violent situations.
  • Complete a variety of reports to assess criminal behavior and provide relevant information to the court.
  • Provide professional testimony and submit comprehensive compliance reports to the court.
  • Collaborate with other judicial districts and states on victim-related concerns.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Less than 1 year of experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, psychology, or a similar field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including offices and jails. The individual must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and be exposed to disagreeable environmental conditions and/or hazards.
